Michael Crigler (or Michael Many Feathers) has been called a wild-creative, living in two worlds. When he
is not out roaming the forests wildcrafting and living, he is in his studio working as an artist, poet and designer, or in the fields as a beekeeper, organic farmer and herbalist in Western Massachusetts. He is of Cherokee and early Powhatan Indian decent and his mixed ancestry traces back sixteen-generations to
Chief Powhatan and his daughter Pocahontas. His work has been exhibited in North America, Europe,
Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
About the work: Every Ending Begins
This body of work is a continuation of Crigler’s visual path of exploration into Gaia. Also know to many
native nations in the United States (Turtle Island) as the Great Mystery, Gaia is the energy which moves
through all and is all beings. With the use of chakra color(s) and natural line, Crigler works to channel this energy and combine the metaphysical with the physical.
The boundries between “real” and “un-real” begin to blur as a viewer releases what is “known” and moves
deeper into awareness and interconnectedness. Everything is one. This exhibition also pays homage to the
grandfathers, chiefs and shamans of this land, their eternal wisdom, vision and courage.
